Hilary Gauci

With an admiration of and passion for the works of Dutch still life masters as well as many contemporary artists, Hilary has developed a style of her own which could be described as photo realistic.  Her paintings usually feature fruits which are reflected in the silver jugs and bowls used in her compositions.  Copper, brass and pewter make ‘guest’ appearances as do oriental ceramics and period glass.

Her paintings are done in alkyd oils which is her favoured medium due to the clarity of the colours and speed of drying time.  All paintings are finished with two coats of varnish and you may well discover a hair or two from one of her English Setters sealed within – this is proof of provenance!
